As mentioned in the April 15, 2019, GVNW Just So You Know publication, the FCC has eliminated the Local Rate Floor rule that has been in effect since 2011. The Order released on April 15, 2019, further explains that the FCC will continue to monitor residential local rates for a period of one year by continuing to require the accompanying reporting obligations. As a reminder, beginning August 2017 (September 1 snapshot) FCC Form 497s will not be processed if the number of Lifeline subscribers claimed is higher than the NLAD snapshot. Subscribers claimed on the FCC Form 497 from here on out will need to be equal to or less than the NLAD subscriber count. 497 filings for NLAD opt-out states (CA, TX, OR, VT) are not affected by this process change at this time.   Read More...
